Arcade Fire and the Subject have coupled the likes of UK pop sensation Cheryl Cole and reformed boyband Take That as nominees for the 2011 Brit Awards. Arcade Fire have nominated in the Trump International Act and Best International Album for 'The Suburbs,' while the Interior have been recognized as one of five hopefuls in this year's Best International Breakthrough.

Folk-flavoured Mumford and Sons, meanwhile, have picked up three nominations, as has rapper Plan B, one of 2010's breakthrough artists with his album 'The Calumny of Strickland Banks.' The XX, who won the Mercury Music Award for their debut last September, have been nominated in three categories. Leading the nominations is fresh-faced UK rapper Tinie Tempah, who has been nominated for four Brits, including Best British Album. Arcade Fire will face fierce competition from the likes of Eminem, Cee Lo Green and Kings of Leon in the Best International Album category. They will also cross swords with New Yorkers Vampire Weekend for Best International Act. The National - currently playing a three-night stand in Auckland, New Zealand - are being recognised for the success fifth album 'High Violet' achieved. The band's UK dates in 20010 included a sold-out Royal Albert Hall show in London, as easily as a set at Glastonbury. Mumford and Sons' three nominations reflect their massive year; their debut album 'Sigh No More' came out in the UK in 2009, but was one of live year's biggest-selling records. They could get away British Album of the Year on the night, as good as Best British Act and British Breakthrough Act. Despite the Brit Awards organisers attempts to cause the case more cool and contemporary, they haven't forgotten the old guard. Former Led zeppelin vocalist Robert Plant has been put forth for the Best British Male for his album 'Set of Joy.' Winners will be proclaimed in London's O2 Arena on Feb. 15. Head to AOL Music for the entire number of Brit Award nominations.
