and the joy of completing the 50,000 words in 30 days. It all spiraled from there and I now sum my crazy NaNo friends every other week to compose at the coffeeshop in our local Borders. We meet twice a week during November for Word Wars and challenges designed to advance us all to see our goal. It's a wonderful experience and one I treasure. Last class was the inaugural year my kids joined me with the New Writers Program. With this challenge, kids can set their own word count goals and save more than they ever thought possible in the month of November. My then 9 yr old was the just one to finish her goal last year, with an 8,000 word story. The see was not a release for those who did not finish though. Each one wrote more than they always had before and were stretched and challenged to use their imaginations and get their writing skills. I'm seriously considering signing them all up again this class and focus on creative writing in our homeschool for the month of November. This is a large chance for homeschooling families as there are free workbooks available to publish that will pass your student through setting up their history and characters. As I'm typing, I'm thinking we want to apply these ourselves and get this process mid October! Free is always great for homeschooling families (Who am I kidding, most every family likes FREE! and the resources they furnish are well done. Having the dispute and active with Mom was a big motivator last year. I've pretty much talked myself into having them join me again this class as I type this out and I hope maybe I've sparked enough interest in you to at least click on over and check out their site! It's fun, it's educational, and it's creative. Enjoy! If you determine to mark up, let me live in the comments section. My username is Flyleaf and I'd love to be a Writing Buddy on the "grown-up" site!
