CM announces Rs 10m for national Hockey Team

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has proclaimed a cash value of Rs 10 million for the home hockey team and laying of Astro turf in Lahore for the advancement of hockey.

He was addressing a reception hosted in respect of the home hockey team at Chief Minister`s Secretariat, here Sunday.

He said that winning of gold medal by the home hockey team in Asian Games after 20 years was a count of pride for the all nation.

He said that the same look and courage demonstrated by the hockey players would be displayed for overcoming the problems and challenges being faced by Pakistan and corporate efforts would be made for regaining its lost status.

He said that the triumph of national hockey team despite great odds was a topic of joy for the all nation. He said that the land should bow before Allah in thanksgiving for this victory which had arrive at a sentence when the area was facing multiple problems, flood devastation, menace of terrorism and the foreign teams were loth to act in Pakistan.

He said that Punjab government was taking all possible measures for the advancement of healthy activities. He said that when President Hockey Federation Qasim Zia after assuming his office, came to him and requested cooperation for the advancement of hockey, he now issued a yield of Rs 80 million.

He said that he would allow more aid to Pakistan Hockey Federation for the World Cup.

He hoped that the triumph of national hockey team would try to be a predecessor of further successes in the area of hockey as easily as other sectors.

He also thanked elected representatives and other individuals who have given prizes to the players. The Head Minister also distributed cash prizes among the players and office-bearers of hockey federation.

Provincial Minister for Sports Tanvirul Islam while speaking on the occasion said that the all country was proud of the triumph of their national heroes in the Asian Games.

He said that Pakistan could anticipate the dispute of terrorism through promotion of sports. He said that regime will proceed to collaborate with the players if they achieved further successes.

President Hockey Federation Qasim Zia paid rich tributes to Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif for the measures taken by him for the advancement of hockey and said that Shahbaz Sharif had always patronized sports and encouraged the players.

He thanked Punjab government for providing funds generously for the advancement of hockey.
